All he would say was that he 'thought' it was the same on iOS 12, but he couldn't be sure.Īll I can say is that I am sure Mail handling for me is different under iOS13 than it was on iOS 12. I tried to get Garry to confirm that this was something that had recently changed with the coming of iOS 13, but he wouldn't do so. (Mine is generally always on wi-fi, but it is only plugged in when I am charging it. He explained that messages were NEVER downloaded to an iPhone immediately 'unless the iPhone was connected to wi-fi AND was connected to a power adapter. I found myself speaking with a man who said his name was Garry, who had a Geordie accent but told me that he was based in Ireland.Ĭontrary to what Keith had told me on Friday, Garry now told me that what I was seeing was not a fault or a bug, but was a 'normal feature'. Keith had suggested an iPhone re-set might be a solution if I still had problems, and so I went ahead on my own over the weekend and backed-up my iPhone, erased it completely and then restored it from the backup I'd just done.Įven this seemed to make no difference, and so I recontacted Apple Support again this afternoon. Using a single application, Mail, you keep all your email messages organized in one app.

When it comes to using Gmail at home or on a Mac laptop, you may prefer to use Apple’s Mail application. However, it wasn't solved, and messages that pinged my iPhone during the rest of Friday and into Saturday were not arriving in my inbox. Gmail’s web-based interface works fine for most people, who can use any computing device to access their webmail. I could do no other but to accept that this forced restart procedure had solved the problem, and the call was ended.
He talked me through doing a 'forced restart' of my iPhone and, upon completion of this I sent myself a test email and it seemed to arrive in my inbox instantly, as it had done before.
I spoke with an American calling himself Keith, and when I'd explained what was happening he agreed that something was amiss. On Friday, after about a month of this problem existing on iOS13 and not getting any fixes in any of the additional updates (I'm currently on 13.2) I contacted Apple Support about it. Okay, a slight update on this in case anyone is interested.
